It begins...

So, I hope all those people who said that we could live in peaceful coexistence with Brainiac have been watching what has been happening all around the world.  Brainiac has decided that it needs to control all the tech in the world, and has bottled many high tech places around the world, to both secure them for himself, and deny us our best tech and scientists.  Oh, and he taking the people in those places over, not as OMAC's, but a form of nanite based mind control.  In the end, it seems Brainiac got most of his targets.  We were unable to prevent Brainiac from bottling Skynet, but we were able to evacuate most of the people before they became trapped there.  I'm sure this isn't the end of its plans, either.  Breaks over, people.  Time to get back in the game.

School's in

Deals with demons.  You'd think in this day and age people would know better.  Apparently not.  We ran into a group of people who had sold their souls for money and power.  Lawyers, of course.  Too funny.  Anyway, this cult of demon worshippers is down a few members.  We tracked some serial murders back to them, and raided one of their strongholds.  It seems almost as if my teammates and I have switched roles.  I was suggesting some cautious recon, while Gekko and Skyline wanted to bust right in.  Actually they wanted ME to bust right in, literally fly through the mansion and into the basement where the cultists were hiding.  My kind of plan.  I immediately came to my senses, and away we went.  Even though I flew through the building very quickly, they still seemed to know we were coming, as they had put this weird spell up that let one of them draw on the strength of the other five while those people were stuck and could do nothing but chant and get beat up.  I turned into a very intense fight, with the demon possessed cultist was able to transfer a lot of the punishment she took to her friends, while blasting us with two sets eye beams that reminded me of the Super-family's heat vision.  Ouch.  Very painful.  And she was very accurate with them.  She managed to nail me twice, both times I thought I was going to be able to deflect them.  Almost took me out, was wobbly for a bit.  I kept doing damage to her friends, and then decided the best way to win was to grab her, and keep her head turned away from us.  She's as strong as I am, maybe a little stronger, but I managed to keep hold of her, and started using her as a battering ram to run her into her friends.  Once all her friends were down, she finally managed to get free and teleported away, leaving her "friends" to us.  Guess you gotta expect that from demon worshippers.  So, we captured the five friends, and they won't be able to pull that trick again.  At least, until they convince others to sign on the dotted line.  We will be asking the authorities to take legal action against the cult, so this should make it harder on them, but there are always, it seems, stupid and desperate people in the world, willing to do anything to get themselves in a better position.  So, I'm guessing they will manage to fill in some of the gaps before we are able to track them down again.

So, you may be wondering what that has to do with the title?  Nothing.  Nothing at all.  Diana and I have decided to start a school!  Well, Diana is helping with resources, but this is pretty much my project.  That is what I was excited about at the end of my last entry.  I mean, if people like Scandal Savage are going to make schools for all the wrong reasons, I should be able to do one for the right reasons.  No indoctrination, no setting up armies for the future, just a place where kids who are having trouble controlling their new powers can come and learn.  I've already got some land lined up, and Sydney and I (mostly Sydney) are looking into what licenses, accreditation, etc, while need to get started.  I've been checking with some mostly retired heroes, asking them to teach.  I think this will be great.  I need a name, though.  Any good suggestions out there?  Most of mine have been taken from Greek history (I AM an Amazon...).  So, I've been thinking stuff like the Academy of the Muses, the Daedalus Academy (Daedalus is kind of a dick, though, the name is associated with science and smarts, but he was also jealous enough of another inventor to throw the poor guy off a tower), the Athenian Academy, stuff like that.  I'm open to other suggestions.  Gotta run.  I need to go to a diplomatic dinner since Diana is busy.

Changes

I've been taking more and more of Wonder Woman's social calendar on to allow her to do more hero stuff.  I have the time, and, frankly, she is more needed than I am out there.  I barely sleep these days, thanks to the blessings of the Alpha Wave.  So, I've been attending meetings, speaking with people, raising money & support for my basketball event and other organizations in the world that need help, and just generally being around and acting as a liaison between the superhero and diplomatic worlds.  One of them anyway.  The diplomats are getting used to me.  I'm a lot blunter than Wonder Woman.  I think sometimes, though, that can help.  I'm inexperienced, so people can forgive me a little more readily than another, and sometimes the blunt truths I speak cut through the diplo-speak and allow more progress.  Sometimes its just me spouting my frustration, but I think I'm doing more good than harm.

The Birds of Prey have taken the field again.  We were alerted that Scandal Savage and the Family Faust had been buying and kidnapping metahuman children and set up a "school", better known as a training and indoctrination compound, to raise an army of metahumans loyal to them.  Not just to help them control their powers, but to literally have an army of metahumans in the future.  And they aren't the only ones.  We also heard that there were similar camps in Germany, China, and another near Gotham (looking at you, Batman) somewhere, right under our noses.  I guess I didn't realize that the Alpha & Omega waves effected many more children than adults.  Some of the people who had sold their children told me one of the reasons they accepted the offer was that their child couldn't control their powers.  One couple told me their child had almost burned the house down twice.  This problem has not cropped up very often, and the legitimate authorities have been slow to respond, understandably, given the events of the last few months, or are reacting the wrong way (looking at you, China).  Anyway, we found the school, and rescued the kids, but are now left with what to do with them.

Oh.  That is....  Wasn't Sydney telling me about....  I gotta go.  This could be awesome!

Bye!

Warworld

You may have been wondering where I've been the last couple of weeks.  Truth be told, I don't want to talk about it much.  My team was enslaved and sold to Warworld to serve as gladiators in their blood sport games.  I killed a man.  He was a Daximite, and the only name I knew was the Deadman, as he was a condemned criminal on his planet, and brought to Warworld to be executed in combat, like the Romans did with their criminals, long ago.  I was going to say they forced me to kill him, but they didn't.  They coerced me, sure, but I had a choice.  He was trying to kill me, and they told me that if I didn't kill him, they'd kill me, but I had a choice.  Its easy to say, "I had to", and move on, but I need to face this.  I choose to kill him.  Dinah is helping me with that.  I am so lucky to be able to share her strength and wisdom.  I worried about my teammates, who have their own burdens, and no Wonder Woman to share them with.  I haven't know Skyline all that long, but I've known Gekko for a while, and she's been different since we got back.  More agitated.  I should talk to her.  I'm not Wonder Woman, but maybe I can help.  It probably doesn't help that we are dealing with a case that makes kinda sick.  I know these things happen, but still, staring it in the face is another matter.  I can't talk about it, though, as I don't want to let the bad guys know we are onto them.  I'll have to spell it out in another post later.

I hope you are doing better since I last posted.  I hope more of you have access to the internet and electricity, and are able to start reading again.  I hope you've found a loved one you thought lost.  Things are slowly getting better.  I just hope they won't get any worse before things get back to normal.
