Its been a hell of a day. First, Diana was having a big political to-do. A political event on women's issues, with diplomats from all over the world attending. It started at the embassy, and moved to an amphitheater a little ways away for Diana's key note address. All of the sudden, there is a big Justice League crisis, and Wonder Woman has to fly off to save the world. Do we postpone the speech? No, of course not. The last thing Diana says before she flies off is, "Mar'i will do the speech". Wow. This is how she does things. This is a both a test, and a message. The test, can she do it. The message, I expect more out of you being a hero than punching bad guys. I got through it, and I think I did pretty well, for being tossed into the deep end. I had my a few bad moments, but thank gods I've been working at the embassy this long, and I've picked up some of what I've seen. I need to be better, though, for next time. I also heard someone refer to me as "Wonder Woman's protege". Isn't that Wonder Girl? Isn't that why she's called Wonder Girl. I know the strict definition of protege, but doesn't that word imply more? I don't like the direction that goes. Is Wonder Woman preparing for when she is gone? I guess, with all that is happened with Oblivion, she has to. But, no one can replace her. The best we can do is carry on without her.
Then, the Birds of Prey got called away and I had to get Wonder Girl to finish up the event for me. (If you haven't seen the results of that, check THIS link. :-) An all eviled out Mary Marvel was on a rampage in downtown Metropolis, and with the Justice League gone, the BoP took the field. Superguy and a set of Lexcorp power armor were fighting her. We spent a minute clearing out the civilians, then got into the action. It was a tough fight, but it was 5 on 1, and she eventually fled. Not before getting off some kind of spell off on Superguy and the Lex Suit. This spell took control of them for a while, and we had to subdue them. Apparently, the Lex Suit shut itself down when the pilot got bespelled. So, we subdued Superguy.
In the aftermath, Superguy was having some trouble remembering things, so we took him to the Hall of Justice and waited for the JL'ers to get back, as they have some people that might be able to help Superguy better. We learned a lot about him, but I won't share his secrets with you. That is up to him. Bottom line, I like him. He is giving up called himself Superman, and the silly red costume he was given. He's going to call himself Superboy, and we are going to be spending some time together. No, not like that. A least, not right away. :-) More later, friends.
Update: We spent most of two days together at the Hall. We have some things in common, he and I, and if we don't end up lovers, we will at least be good friends, I think. We were both hurt after our battle with Mary Marvel, and my favorite method of convalescence is to find a beach somewhere, and sit in the sun. I didn't take much convincing to take him to the beach to see my bathing suit...
